Dave Hembrough

Dave is an advocate of all things to do with health, wellbeing and in particular strength training. He is a sport scientist at The Centre for Sport and Exercise Science (CSES), Sheffield Hallam University, and is also the head coach of Hallam Barbell Weightlifting Club. He has been part of our Centre since 2017 and contributes to the CMBLE programme in a number of ways.

Dave established a programme which he called MindfullySTRONG. It is an integrated physical activity and mindfulness programme which helps people to become fitter, healthier and happier through mindfulness and physical training. The programme introduces people to these activities in a nurturing and non-judgmental way and in line with the principles of the four immeasurables and of the Centre.

Previously Dave has coached elite athletes at Olympic and World level. He trained the GB Volleyball Team at the 2012 Olympic Games and the British Diving and Table Tennis squads for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2016. More recently he has turned his attention to using his coaching skills and experiences in a way that makes a real difference to real people.
